John Brown

John Brown is an experienced lawyer. He is the principal of McIntyres, Lawyers, of Norfolk Island, and has provided legal services on Norfolk Island for more than 30 years. He is the sole proprietor of the firm.

John was admitted as a Solicitor in 1972 having studied law at University of Sydney. Initially he worked as a lawyer in Sydney before relocating to Norfolk Island.

His expertise has been acquired through a career in law, and concurrently included over 20 years as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Norfolk Island, and a range of commercial pursuits.

As a lawyer, his wide experience has included conveyancing and property transactions, the preparation of wills, estate planning, disputed estates, criminal and traffic law, family law, dispute resolution and litigation.

He is an experienced advocate. He has had considerable experience throughout Australia and Norfolk Island, and has also assisted in matters in overseas jurisdictions. He regularly appears on an agency basis in Norfolk Island for Australian and New Zealand firms, and for firms from other countries who need the services of an experienced practitioner skilled in Norfolk Island law and practices.

He holds current practising certificates in Norfolk Island and Victoria.

His comfortable personality, detailed knowledge of the law, and ability to encourage others to achieve to their best, allows him to work alone or as part of a team, across a wide spectrum of the law, in Norfolk Island and elsewhere.
